If you're switching PCs or seeing a hardware-related error when starting the bot, you probably need to reset your **HWID**. Here's what it is and how to do it.

## What is the HWID?

The **HWID** (Hardware ID) is a unique identifier generated from your computer's hardware. The first time you use Kingshot Bot, your license is automatically **tied to this HWID**.

This link prevents a single license from being used on several different machines at the same time: it ensures that only the registered device can run the bot with your subscription.

## When do you need to reset your HWID?

You need to reset your HWID if:

- You're switching to a new computer
- You reinstall Windows
- You change major hardware components in your PC
- The bot displays a "Hardware ID mismatch" error or refuses to start on a different machine

## How to reset your HWID

1. Log in to your [dashboard](https://kingshot-bot.com/dashboard/settings?ref=help.kingshot-bot.com).
2. Go to the **Settings** tab.
3. Find the **Hardware ID (HWID)** card, which shows how many resets you've already used this month.
4. Click **Reset HWID**.
5. Restart the bot client on the machine where you want to use it. The change takes effect immediately.

## Monthly limit

To prevent abuse (such as sharing a license between several people), HWID resets are limited to **10 per month**. The dashboard shows in real time how many you have left (for example "3 / 10").

If you reach this limit, you'll need to wait until next month or contact support on Discord if you have a genuinely urgent need.

## Only one machine at a time

By design, a Kingshot Bot license can only be active on **one machine at a time**. If you regularly use several PCs (e.g. a desktop and a laptop), keep in mind that each machine switch uses up one HWID reset.

## Need help?

If the bot still refuses to start after an HWID reset, check that your subscription is active in **Billing**, then contact support on Discord.
