The **Heroes** tab (Settings → Heroes) controls everything related to heroes: free and paid recruiting, spending universal fragments on star promotion, filling Hero Training Center slots, and the per-hero priority list that decides which hero gets scrolls and XP first.

## Hero Recruit

![Hero Recruit section of the Heroes settings tab](https://help.kingshot-bot.com/content/images/2026/08/settings-heroes--hero-recruit-2.png)

These options run the hero-recruit actions automatically, using both the daily free searches and any recruit keys/fragments in your inventory.

| Option | What it does | Default |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Auto free recruit | Master switch for the two free-search checkboxes below it (Advanced/Epic). When off, the bot never uses your free daily hero searches at all, and the Advanced/Epic checkboxes are disabled. | On |
| Advanced recruit | When a free Advanced hero search is available, the bot uses it automatically. Only takes effect while "Auto free recruit" is on. | On |
| Auto-recruit hero from fragments when cost met | For any not-yet-recruited hero, once you own enough of that hero's own fragments to meet the recruit cost, the bot recruits the hero. This checks every hero's individual fragment stock, not the universal shards below. | On |
| Epic recruit | When a free Epic hero search is available, the bot uses it automatically. Only takes effect while "Auto free recruit" is on. | On |
| Use Advanced Key (Gold Key) | Spends every Advanced Key (Gold Key) in your inventory on Advanced hero searches (drawn in batches, capped at 500 per request, repeating until the stock is empty). | Off |
| Use Epic Key | Spends every Epic Key in your inventory on Epic hero searches, the same way Advanced Key does. | Off |

Note: "Advanced recruit" and "Epic recruit" only fire when a free search is actually ready (the game's daily free-search cooldown); they never spend keys or fragments. Key-spending is entirely controlled by the two "Use ... Key" checkboxes, independent of the free-recruit checkboxes above them.

## Star promotion — universal fragments

![Star promotion universal fragments section of the Heroes settings tab](https://help.kingshot-bot.com/content/images/2026/08/settings-heroes--star-promotion-universal-fragments-2.png)

When a recruited hero is ready to be promoted a star but doesn't have quite enough of their own hero-specific fragments, the bot can make up the exact shortfall by exchanging Universal Hero Shards of the matching rarity (1:1) before promoting. These options are opt-in per rarity because universal shards can be used on any hero of that quality, so spending them automatically is a real trade-off.

| Option | What it does | Default |
| ---------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Use Rare Universal Hero Shard | Allows exchanging Rare Universal Hero Shards to cover a Rare-quality hero's fragment shortfall for star promotion. | Off |
| Use Epic Universal Hero Shard | Allows exchanging Epic Universal Hero Shards to cover an Epic-quality hero's fragment shortfall for star promotion. | Off |
| Use Legendary Universal Hero Shard | Allows exchanging Legendary Universal Hero Shards to cover a Legendary-quality hero's fragment shortfall for star promotion. | Off |

All three are off by default because universal shards are precious and usable on any hero of that rarity — the bot never spends them unless you opt in per rarity, and even then it only exchanges the exact number needed to close the gap, never more.

Star promotion itself is gated by the "Stars" checkbox for that hero in the Per-Hero Config table below; these three options only affect whether a universal-shard top-up is allowed when a promotion is otherwise short on hero-specific fragments.

## Hero Training

![Hero Training section of the Heroes settings tab](https://help.kingshot-bot.com/content/images/2026/08/settings-heroes--hero-training-2.png)

| Option | What it does | Default |
| ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------- |
| Auto-assign heroes to training slots | Automatically fills open Hero Training Center slots with eligible heroes (heroes below the teacher's minimum training level), and reclaims heroes already seated once they've absorbed the available training XP. | On |

The **All** and **None** buttons here are the same bulk-select controls as in the Per-Hero Config table below — see that section for what they set.

Below the checkbox the panel also shows read-only status for the Hero Training Center: the current academy level requirement, how many slots are available, and which teacher heroes are assigned. These are informational and not settings.

## Per-Hero Config

![Per-Hero Config section of the Heroes settings tab](https://help.kingshot-bot.com/content/images/2026/08/settings-heroes--per-hero-config-2.png)

This is a table with one row per hero, listing every hero known to the game (in your saved priority order, see the next section). Each row has its own toggles that override the general automation for that specific hero:

- **LvUp** — whether the bot levels this hero up (spending hero EXP items) when training resources are available.
- **TgtLv** — an optional target level for this hero; `0` means "level to whatever the castle currently allows" instead of a fixed cap.
- **Equip** — whether the bot manages equipment for this hero.
- **Stars** — whether the bot promotes this hero's star rank (subject to the universal-fragment opt-ins above).
- **Skills** — a read-only preview of the hero's configured skill targets; double-click the row to open a per-skill target editor (each of the hero's skill slots can be set to Off, an exact target level, or Max).

By default every hero starts with LvUp, Equip, and Stars all enabled, target level `0` (uncapped), and all of its skills targeted to Max.

| Control | What it does |
| ------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| All | Enables LvUp, Equip, and Stars for every hero in the table, and sets every hero's skill targets to Max. |
| None | Disables LvUp, Equip, and Stars for every hero in the table, and sets every hero's skill targets to Off (the toggles are switched off rather than the rows being removed, so the table keeps its saved order). |

## Order = scroll/XP priority. Select a hero to edit skills below.

![Reorder controls for the Per-Hero Config table](https://help.kingshot-bot.com/content/images/2026/08/settings-heroes--order-scroll-xp-priority-select-a-hero-to-edit-skills-below-2.png)

This is the same Per-Hero Config table described above — the row order it's currently in is the spending priority whenever hero scrolls (used for leveling) and shared training XP are limited: heroes higher in the list are fed first. Select a row and use the buttons to move it.

| Control | What it does |
| ------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| ▲ Up | Moves the currently selected hero one position higher in the priority list. |
| ▼ Down | Moves the currently selected hero one position lower in the priority list. |

Double-clicking a row (rather than the Up/Down buttons) opens the per-hero skill-target dialog referenced in the hint text ("Select a hero to edit skills below").
